Swimming Lessons

Important Information on Swim Lessons at Horsefly Lake
July 17-21 & July 24-28, 2023

These swim lessons are brought to you by the Horsefly Community Club with generous support from our SAWS, the Horsefly Women’s Institute, and Clarke’s General Store.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Swim lessons are open to children ages 0-14
  • Cost is $10.00 per family.
  • We are asking folks to pre-register their children. Email the information to Carla Bullinger at carla@horseflyfranks.ca
  • You must be available for the entire 2 weeks. If you already know you’ll be away for part of it, don’t register your child.
  • Meet at the grassy beach at the provincial park on July 17 at 9:00 a.m. Bring money and your child’s swim report card, if applicable. This is very important. If Isabelle doesn’t have the previous report card, she will spend more time assessing the kids and not teaching which can make for a very long first day.
  • Parents/guardians – you are responsible for the safety of your child/children during swim lessons and while they are at the lake.
  • Parents/guardians with kids in preschool classes. There are some classes in which you will be required to be in the water with your child.

Isabelle, the swim instructor, will create a swim schedule based on the number of children and their levels. Lessons are from 9:00 am to about 2:00/2:30 with older children getting the morning slots. The first Monday of lessons can be a long day, so bring along lots of water/juice, snacks, toys, and blankets.

We’ve had some nice weather this spring. Let’s hope this keeps up. Even so, the lake water can feel cool. Make sure you have lots of dry towels, clothes and blankets for your child(ren) to curl up in after the lesson.

I’ll post any update/changes on the Real Horsefly facebook page.
